Grand Rapids' first dedicated pickleball gym

All In Pickleball Gym opened in April 2023 in a business park off 76th Street SW in Byron Center, a few minutes south of Grand Rapids and just off US-131. It was the first facility in the area built for pickleball and nothing else: 21,000 square feet of indoor courts with a professional outdoor-style playing surface, so the game looks and bounces the way it does outside without depending on Michigan weather.

The Byron Center gym has five full courts and two training courts, and it was the first place in Michigan with dedicated training courts, including skinny-singles and dinking short courts for drilling. Each court is boxed in by 16-foot containment nets, strung with tensioned nets rather than portable ones, and lit for competitive play. There is a players lounge, air conditioning, and key-code access so members can let themselves in.

Open early, open late

The gym runs from 5 a.m. to midnight seven days a week, holidays included. Courts are booked through the Court Reserve app, and the calendar fills with open play, leagues, clinics, pro training and tournaments, along with corporate events and private parties. A community Facebook group is where players find a third or fourth to fill a reservation.

Who runs it

All In was founded by Dan McConnon with partners Mike Davis, James Grochowalski and Scott McAllister after they saw demand for instruction outrunning the places to play in West Michigan. The gym won the 2024 SBDC Best Small Business Award, and a second location, Cedar Rock, opened in Cedar Springs in December 2024.
